Saint Paul, Minnesota Skyline Painting!

Commissioned painting of my home town. I absolutely love it! I love the colors and the feel. I spent approx. 35-40 hours on it! Something that I don't normally do. I tend to have a hard time returning to paintings or drawings if I can't finish them in a day or so. Lucky I did! I'm so pleased and proud of myself :]
Please let me know what you think!

35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42 / 365 Thought Provoking Questions of the Year

35. What is important enough to go to war over?
Nothing, in my opinion. That's something that is much easier said though.
Because the freedoms I have now were granted because of war. I'm not saying that that is how things should be though. I just wish the human race had better ways to solve their problems with each other than killing and fighting. Anything that is important to someone is worth fighting for, but I don't see war as being necessary. There are different ways to go about it, but not all will see it.

36. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Never trying! Can’t fail if you haven’t even tried :]

37. When was the last time you listened to the sound of your own breathing?
A couple weeks ago when I tried doing some yoga before bed. And sometimes before I fall asleep, just laying in bed. When it's extremely quiet.

38. What's something you know you do differently than most people?
The way I deal with people, at least when it comes to some sort of falling-out or argument. I always want to hear the person's side of the story, their feelings about everything. I always give everyone that chance even if I don't want to, or really shouldn't. It's not about "that I think it's right" or "that i'm being the bigger person", i'm just simply curious. And if we end up being pissy with each other, it never lasts long with me. In almost all situations I will always forgive and move on with things. Not all though, I can hold a mean grudge if you give me a reason to.

39. What does 'The American Dream' mean to you?
To me, “The American Dream” is kind of just a dream now a days.
A lot of people work really, really hard to get through college and other types of extended schooling and interning so that they can get the job of their dreams and make the big bucks. That way they can settle down eventually and start to support a family. There are not nearly enough jobs to support the growing number of American Dreamers, and now we’re all just kind of floating along. Dreaming, working hard, and hoping to find a place that feels right.

40. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
worried genius of course.

41. If you could instill one piece of advice in a newborn baby's mind, what advice would you give?
Hmmm, i’d say just open up to people. Especially to the people you care about. It’s hard, and sometimes scary, but in the end it’s worth it. You need to show people how good you are or no one’s going to figure it out. People can’t simply read your mind and know who and what you are, you need to show them.
I mean, people come in and out of your life so quickly, at least give them an honest reason to remember you by.

42. What is the most desirable trait another person can possess?
A free spirit, happy heart, and open mind.

Stellar

New Watercolor. Stellar. 11"x15"

This painting was kind of new ground for me! I tried something very different, and I am pretty happy with the turn out. There a couple of things that I would do over, using less white lines in the green areas by the glasses. I'd also have more control over the green area! When I'm blowing on the paint I will be sure to avoid it going on eyebrows. The green that is near them seem to change her facial expression from a blank stare to a surprised look. Crazy how the smallest factors can change a whole image!

I sell prints now of my art, and I am just kind of getting it set up. I have four 11"x14" prints ($18 each) available for this specific piece left. Please contact me if at all interested! My email is weberamanda91@gmail.com. I also have a facebook page for my art: www.facebook.com/AmandaWeberArt . Please take a look and like it if you want!

Thanks everyone! :]

30,31,32,33,34/ 365 Thought Provoking Questions of the Year

30. If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?
hmm, nothing too crazy. basically just keep your chin up, stay true to who you are and what you believe in. especially about yourself. and don’t stop smiling, especially at others!

31. If the average human lifespan was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
well i wouldn’t want to be in school nearly as long as i’m going to be. and i’d start traveling right away, and frequently. i’d want to start a family and have kids at a younger age, so i could watch them grow up as much as i could.

32. What do we all have in common besides our genes that makes us human?
emotions. without them we’d all be extremely bland, hard to even consider us human.
not only do they make us all human, but they also make us unique to each other.
some people may have more rash emotions than others. some are a lot more happy, while others are more sad. it’s these differences that set us apart from each other.

33. If you could choose one book as a mandatory read for all high school students, which book would you choose?
oh man, that's a pretty difficult question! i used to read so much when i was younger, but nothing i ever read then was too substantial. i recently am trying to get back into it! the book that i am reading right now is " Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. I know it already is a mandatory read in most high schools, but I really believe that it's a great read for that age group! extremely interesting!!!

34. Would you rather have less work or more work you actually love doing?
more work that i love doing! i'll stay busy and not feel like a lazy bum, and then it wouldn’t feel like work! a win-win. :]
